Nailterest Privacy Policy

Edgist (“Edgist,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Nailterest mobile application (the “App”), a platform designed to enable users to create, share, and discover nail-related content, connect with others, and explore nail salons based on location.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and disclose your information when you use the App. It also describes your rights and choices regarding your information.

By accessing or using Nailterest, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

We collect information in several ways, including information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information we derive from your use of the App.

When you create an account or interact with the App, you may provide personal information such as your name, username, email address, profile photo, biography, and other details you choose to include in your profile. You may also provide content, including photos, captions, comments, and other materials related to nail designs or beauty content. Additionally, if you use the messaging features, we collect the content of your communications with other users.

Because Nailterest is a social platform, information that you choose to make public, including your profile and posted content, may be visible to other users and, depending on your settings, may be accessible more broadly.

We may collect location information, including approximate or precise location data, to provide features such as displaying nearby nail salons and improving content recommendations. You can control the collection of location data through your device settings.

We also request access to your device camera to enable you to capture and share nail-related images within the App. You can manage or revoke this permission at any time through your device settings.

In addition, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information when you use the App. This may include your device type, operating system, application version, IP address, and information about how you interact with the App, such as the features you use, the content you view, and the time you spend within the App.

We may also derive or infer information about your preferences, interests, and behavior based on your interactions with the App. These inferences help us personalize your experience and improve our services.

Bookings. When you book an appointment, we collect the salon, service, employee, date and time, and any note you add. If you book without a Nailterest account, we also collect the first name, last name, phone number, and email address you provide. Salon accounts provide their services, prices, working hours, and the names and photos of their employees.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a notification token for your device together with your app version, language, time zone, and notification setting, so we can send you messages, booking updates, and reminders.

Purchases. Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive your subscription status and purchase history needed to provide paid features. We do not receive your card or payment details.

Advertising identifiers. On iOS we access your device’s advertising identifier only if you allow tracking when asked by App Tracking Transparency. On Android we may use your device’s advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your device settings.

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve Nailterest. This includes enabling you to create and share content, interact with other users, communicate through messaging features, and discover relevant nail designs and salons.

We also use your information to personalize your experience, including recommending content, features, and accounts that may be of interest to you. Your information helps us understand how users engage with the App, allowing us to improve functionality, develop new features, and enhance performance.

We use booking information to arrange your appointment with the salon, to send confirmations, changes, and reminders by notification or email, and to let the salon manage its schedule. We use purchase information to provide the paid features you have subscribed to.

We may use your information to maintain the safety and integrity of the App, including detecting, preventing, and addressing fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.

Some Nailterest features use machine learning models that run on your device:

• Try-On and My Hand: detecting your hand and nails so designs can be shown on them.
• Nail DNA: reading the colors and style of a nail design in a photo.

These models are part of the App and process images locally, on your phone or in your browser. Nailterest does not send your photos, your camera feed or any other content to third-party AI or machine learning providers, and no such provider receives your data to run or train its models.

The results of this on-device analysis, such as a design's colors and style attributes, are saved with your post. Together with your likes, saves and follows, they are used to recommend designs, salons and styles you may like, and to organize content in search and discovery.

Nailterest does not use your content, including your photos and messages, to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

We never use information obtained through Google APIs, including Google Calendar data, to develop, improve or train artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Google user data is never shared with any AI provider. It is used only as described in the Google Calendar Integration section of this policy.

We use your information to personalize the content and recommendations you see within the App, based on your interactions, preferences, and inferred interests.

Nailterest shows advertising to users who do not have an ad-free subscription. In our mobile apps, ads are provided by Google AdMob; on our website, by Google AdSense. We also use Meta’s app events tools to measure how people find and install the App from our advertising campaigns.

On iOS, we only use your advertising identifier and allow advertising partners to track you across other companies’ apps and websites if you give permission when asked by App Tracking Transparency. If you choose not to allow tracking, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on tracking. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent to personalized advertising before it is used, and you can change your choice at any time.

You can limit ad personalization in your device settings: on iOS under Privacy & Security, Tracking, and on Android by resetting or deleting your advertising ID. Verified and Pro subscriptions remove ads from the App.

Salon accounts can connect an employee’s Google Calendar so that the employee’s existing appointments prevent double bookings, and so that bookings made in Nailterest appear in that calendar. This is optional and is only used when a salon chooses to connect a calendar for an employee. Each employee connects their own Google account, and connecting requires signing in to that Google account and granting permission on Google’s consent screen.

What we access

With your permission, Nailterest requests access to the following Google user data:

• Free and busy times of the calendar you choose. We read only the start and end times of busy periods. We do not read or store event titles, descriptions, locations, attendees, or attachments.
• The list of calendars in the connected account, so you can choose which calendar to use.
• Permission to create, update, and delete events, used only for events that Nailterest itself creates for bookings.
• The email address of the connected Google account, shown in the app so you can see which account is connected.

How we use it

Busy times are used only to hide booking times when the employee is unavailable. When a booking is confirmed, rescheduled, or cancelled, we create, update, or delete a matching event in the connected calendar. That event contains the booked service, its date and time, and, for bookings made without a Nailterest account, the name the customer provided. We do not use Google user data for any other purpose.

Storage and security

We store a Google access credential for each connected employee on our servers, encrypted at rest and transmitted only over encrypted connections. It is never accessible from the app or to other users, including the salon owner. We store busy times only for upcoming dates and delete past busy times automatically. Our systems keep this information up to date by receiving change notifications from Google.

Sharing

We do not sell Google user data, and we do not share or transfer it to anyone except as needed to provide this feature, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to you. We do not use Google user data for advertising, including personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising. Our staff do not read Google user data unless you give us permission to do so for a specific support request, it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, or it is required by law.

Retention, disconnecting, and deletion

You can disconnect Google Calendar for an employee at any time in the app. When you do, we revoke our access with Google, and delete the stored credential and the employee’s busy times. Events already added to the calendar for past or upcoming bookings stay in the calendar until you delete them there. Deleting an employee or your Nailterest account also deletes this data. You can also remove Nailterest’s access directly in your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Limited Use

Nailterest’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

When you book an appointment, we share your booking details with that salon, including your name, the contact details you provide, and any note, so the salon can provide the service.

We may share your information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, data storage, analytics, and technical support. These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us.

The service providers we use include:

• Supabase: hosting, database, file storage, and account authentication.
• Google Firebase: app analytics, push notifications, and crash reports.
• Google AdMob and Google AdSense: advertising.
• Meta: measuring our advertising campaigns and app installs.
• Adapty: managing subscriptions, together with the Apple App Store and Google Play, which process payments.
• Resend: sending emails such as booking confirmations and reminders.
• Google Maps Platform and Apple Maps: showing maps and finding nearby salons, which involves sending your search or approximate location.
• Cloudflare Turnstile: protecting sign up on our website from automated abuse.
• Google Calendar: for salons that connect it, as described in the Google Calendar Integration section.

We may also disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, the safety of our users, or the integrity of the App.

Information that you choose to make public, including your profile and content, may be visible to other users of the App.

When you book with a salon that has connected an employee’s Google Calendar, the booking details described in the Google Calendar Integration section above are added to that employee’s calendar, where they are processed by Google under Google’s own privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your information on the following legal bases:

• Performance of a contract: to provide your account, content, messaging, bookings, and paid features.
• Consent: for personalized advertising and tracking, notifications, location, camera access, and connecting Google Calendar. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that happened before.
• Legitimate interests: to keep the App secure, prevent abuse, understand how the App is used, and improve our services.
• Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

We are based in the European Union. Some of our service providers process information in other countries, including the United States. Where information is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where applicable.

We retain your information for as long as your account remains active or as necessary to provide the App and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We may also retain certain information as required by law, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements.

If you delete your account, bookings you made remain in the salon’s records so the salon can keep an accurate history of its appointments, but they are no longer linked to your Nailterest account.

When we no longer need your information, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it so that it can no longer be associated with you.

If you are located in the European Economic Area or other jurisdictions with similar laws, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. These may include the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, the right to restrict or object to certain processing, and the right to data portability.

You may also withdraw your consent where processing is based on consent.

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the App settings or by contacting us at the email address provided below.

You can turn off notifications, camera access, location access, and tracking at any time in your device settings, and change your advertising consent from within the App where it applies. Salons can disconnect Google Calendar for any employee in the App.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Nailterest is not intended for individuals under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the App after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
